A beautiful time of chanted music, prayer and silence. Rooted in the worship of the Taize Community in France. All are welcome. The Taizé Community is an ecumenical Christian monastic community in Taizé, Burgundy, France. It is composed of more than one hundred brothers, from Catholic and Protestant traditions, who come from about thirty countries across the world. It was founded in 1940 by Brother Roger Schütz. The community has become one of the world's most important sites of Christian pilgrimage focusing on youth. Over 100,000 young people make pilgrimages to Taizé each year for prayer, Bible study, sharing, and communal work. Through the community's ecumenical outlook, they are encouraged to live in the spirit of kindness, simplicity and reconciliation.
Clogher don Óige have been asked to celebrate Mass in the RTÉ Studios in Dublin on December 8th for live broadcast!! The Taizé community is an ecumenical monastic order with a strong devotion to peace and justice through prayer and meditation. The 100-strong community of Roman Catholic and Protestant monks is drawn from 30 countries across the world. Today Taizé is one of the world's most important sites of Christian pilgrimage. Each year tens of thousands of young pilgrims flock to the small village of Taizé in central France to share in the community's way of life. Prayer and silence are at the heart of the Taizé experience. Young people from every corner of the globe are encouraged to live out the Christian gospel in a spirit of joy, simplicity and reconciliation. Along with 3,500 young people from across Europe and further afield (we were there for the week with the highest attendance this year!) our CdÓ teens attended daily small group bible study, joined with the Taizé Brothers three times a day for prayer, Mass, the Sacrament of Reconciliation and spent time together reflecting and journaling on their Taizé experience... simple living, stepping away from the regular routine of life, times of silence, less access to technology. 62 young people from across the Diocese, accompanied by Fr. Leo Creelman, Youth Director James McLoughlin and 9 volunteer leaders travelled to Lourdes as part of the Diocesan Pilgrimage. The young people played a key role with the Assisted Pilgrims from the Diocese, making sure they got to all the Masses, liturgies and other events of the pilgrimage. The young people of Clogher don Óige also played a central role in the liturgies during our six days in Lourdes - leading the Low Stations, the Closing Ceremony and various prayers and music at Masses. The young people excelled themselves, with servant hearts were a credit to themselves, their families, parishes and communities. Wednesday 1st May @4pm Saint Michael's Church, Enniskillen Clogher Don Óige will be hosting a special Prayer Service for all young people preparing for exams. It will be a wonderful chance to take a step back away from the stress and worries of exams. There will be time to reflect and de-stress, contemporary Christian music, uplifting words from the Bible and some creative prayer spaces. What is the prayer service all about?
Preparing for exams can be an incredibly stressful time for young people. It is our hope that as a Church community we can provide a space for young people to bring their worries and concerns to Jesus, and to know that we care for them. Who is it for? For all young people who are preparing for any exams, or indeed any young people who feel stressed and overburdened. Teachers and parents are welcome to attend to express their prayerful support. What is the theme? We will be focusing on the Scripture passage from Matthew 14:22-33, where Jesus walks on water and calls Peter out of the boat. We will use this Scripture to encourage young people to keep their eyes fixed on Jesus throughout their preparations. What will be included? The prayer service will include a variety of prayer elements particularly suited for young people. A key part of the service will be prayer stations located at different points around the Church. At each station young people will focus on different aspects of their life of faith and creatively reflect on that theme. The service will also include contemporary Christian music. We hope to welcome Clergy so that young people have the opportunity for Confession, or even just a chat. |
