Why Carlo Acutis?
We want to share with you the story of Blessed Carlo Acutis, a young boy from Italy, beatified in 2020. It was recently announced (on May 23rd 2024) that he will soon be canonised, and become Saint Carlo! Carlo is believed to be a powerful intercessor for young people and a great example to hold up for them. We hope this brief story will inspire you to learn more about him and encourage your children to do the same.
Blessed Carlo Acutis' story is very inspiring and a great example of following God and living a life of holiness in today’s world. Carlo was born in 1991, was a typical young boy. He loved video games, soccer, and ice cream. He grew to love the Mass and the Eucharist and would attend Mass as often as possible. He had such a deep love for the Eucharist that he researched and created a website documenting the different Eucharistic miracles that have taken place in the world.
Carlo was also known for his kindness and charity. One story tells how Carlo spent his pocket money and savings to buy food, sleeping bags and other necessities for homeless people in his home city of Milan.
Carlo was a regular kid who desired to grow in holiness and serve God and others. This is God’s call for each of us – to grow in holiness by loving God and others.
Carlo died of leukemia at the young age of 15. He offered all of his sufferings to God for the Church and the Pope. Blessed Carlo is a great example of what it means to follow God faithfully each day.
